Privacy Policy — Anagnostis Luxury Charters
Last updated:
This policy explains how Anagnostis Luxury Charters handles personal data when someone visits anagnostis.info, sends an enquiry, contacts us by phone, email or WhatsApp, or confirms a yacht charter with us. It applies to prospective and returning charter guests, to anyone browsing the site, and to the people named on a confirmed booking.
It does not cover the WhatsApp application itself, which is operated by Meta under its own privacy terms once a visitor opens a chat from our site.

1. Who this policy concerns and who decides how data is used
The entity that decides why and how personal data is processed for anagnostis.info and for the charters arranged through it is Anagnostis Luxury Charters, based in Athens, Greece. For every matter covered by this policy — including requests to exercise a data protection right — you can reach us at [email protected].
We curate a fleet of roughly thirty-four yachts, from day-cruisers to long-range motor yachts, berthed at Athens' principal marinas. Running a deliberately contained fleet, with long-standing relationships with local captains and port authorities across the islands, means we handle a limited and well-defined set of personal data rather than large volumes collected for their own sake.
2. Information we collect and where it comes from
When you submit an enquiry, we collect the details you type into the form: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the yacht you are interested in if you chose one, your preferred charter dates, the number of guests, and any message you add. The form also transmits the web address of the page you were viewing and the site that referred you to us, so we understand which pages generate interest.
When you call, email or write to us directly, we keep that correspondence and whatever details you choose to share, such as charter dates, guest numbers, or special requests.
When you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we record that click — the page address, the referring site, the language of the page and the message that was pre-filled — before WhatsApp opens on your device. From that point, the conversation takes place inside WhatsApp and is governed by Meta's own privacy terms, not by us.
Our hosting provider's servers also keep standard technical logs of visits (IP address, time, page requested, browser used) for a short period, purely to protect the site against abuse.
Finally, once a charter is confirmed, we collect the names of guests travelling, as explained below.
3. Why we use your information and on what legal basis
We use enquiry details, correspondence and WhatsApp click data to answer your questions, prepare a written quote and discuss availability — these are steps taken at your request before a contract exists, or, once a booking is confirmed, steps needed to perform that contract.
We keep short-lived server logs to protect the site and our business from misuse; this rests on our legitimate interest in keeping our systems secure, weighed against your right to privacy.
Where a charter is booked, we collect and pass on guest names because Greek port authorities and the vessel's crew require them to prepare the crew list and to comply with maritime and safety registration duties; this processing is necessary to meet a legal obligation that applies to the charter.
4. Guest names for the crew list
Greek maritime regulations require every vessel to hold a crew list naming everyone on board, including charter guests, before departure. Once you confirm a booking with us, we will ask for the full names of all guests (and, where required, nationality and passport or ID details) so the captain can prepare this list and present it to the relevant port authority. This information is used solely for that purpose and for the safe conduct of the charter, and is shared only with the captain or driver performing your charter and, where the law requires it, with the competent port authority.
5. Who receives your information
Access to enquiry and booking data is limited to the people who need it to serve you:
- members of our own team, who reply to enquiries and coordinate bookings through our internal booking and messaging tools;
- the captain or driver who will actually run your charter, who receives the guest and itinerary details needed to prepare the trip and, where applicable, the crew list;
- our hosting provider, which stores the website and the booking records on our behalf;
- Google, through the Google Fonts service used to display the site's typefaces, which receives the visitor's IP address as part of loading that font;
- jsDelivr, the content delivery network that serves the intl-tel-input library used for the phone-number field in our enquiry form;
- WhatsApp (Meta), for any conversation you choose to start through our WhatsApp button, under WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
6. Browser storage and how we measure visits
Our site does not set cookies. It uses three small browser storage entries instead: one remembers that you closed the cookie notice; one remembers which yacht you clicked on so the enquiry form can be pre-filled, and is removed when you close the tab or send the form; and one holds randomly generated visitor and session identifiers used for our own visit statistics, which expires thirty days after your last visit and can be cleared from your browser settings at any time. None of these entries contains your name, email or phone number.
Visit statistics are produced by a script we serve from our own domain, without any third-party analytics, advertising or social-media tracker. It records which pages were viewed, time spent on a page, the referring website, campaign parameters present in the link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language and the country derived from your IP address; the IP address itself is discarded and not stored. If you later send an enquiry or tap a WhatsApp or phone link, that action is linked to the same visit so we can see which channel brought you to us.
7. Transfers outside Greece
Our own records are stored and processed within the European Economic Area. Google Fonts and the jsDelivr content delivery network may serve content from infrastructure located outside the EEA, and WhatsApp conversations are handled by Meta on its own global infrastructure; in both cases, the provider is responsible for ensuring the transfer meets the safeguards required under the GDPR, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
8. How long we keep your information
If an enquiry does not lead to a confirmed charter, we delete it after twelve months. If you book a charter with us, we keep the records of that booking, including any guest and crew-list information, for as long as Greek tax and accounting rules require us to retain commercial records. Short-lived server logs are overwritten after a brief security retention period.
9. Keeping your information secure
We limit access to enquiry and booking records to the people described above, rely on our hosting provider's infrastructure to serve the static site securely, and keep only the technical logs needed to detect and respond to misuse of the site. We do not ask for payment details through the website, since charters are never paid online — quotes and confirmations are exchanged in writing by email or WhatsApp.
10. Your rights, our supervisory authority, and this policy over time
Under the GDPR and Greek data protection law, you may ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to correct inaccurate details, to erase data we no longer need, to restrict or object to certain processing, and, where processing rests on consent or a contract, to receive your data in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]; we aim to respond within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request.
If you believe your data has not been handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, the body responsible for supervising compliance with data protection law in Greece.
Our services are intended for adults arranging a yacht charter, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this policy as our practices or the law evolve; the version published on anagnostis.info is always the one that applies, and we encourage you to check it before sending an enquiry or confirming a charter.
